Our Director Melita was honoured to be asked to judge the Northern Ireland Hospitality Federation's annual 'Hotel Receptionist of the Year' this week. Not knowing much about this award previously, she was really impressed with the process, calibre of candidates and status of this hotly contested competition.
We realised how crucially important this front line job is, not only adding to our clients experience, but also to making our jobs in Business Tourism that much easier. Receptionists are often the first person that our clients come into contact with, and whether it's in person, or via telephone, a receptionist shoulders a huge responsibility. They are responsible for making a good first impression not only for their hotel or company, but also for us, the DMC which they are working with. From making the check-in experience as easy as possible, and being warm and welcoming to delegates, to looking after the DMC's own staff and keeping them going with caffeine fixes and being an additional part of the team.
The interpersonal skills that were on display in the competition were second to none. The presentation of all candidates was immaculate and although they must have been nervous, the smiles and effervescent personalities shone through. They were a real credit to their respective hotels and we wish them all the best in their future careers!
