We were delighted to assist Visit Belfast with their inaugural Corporate Fam over the weekend.  What a line up too, with UK based representatives and business owners from the very top agencies!

Brunch at the Titanic Belfast was their first activity of the weekend, giving an insight into Belfast’s impressive shipbuilding history, paying tribute to the tragedy and seeing how creative and flexible the vast amount of event space this venue has – it’s not ‘Best Visitor Attraction in the World’ for nothing!

Then it was off to Ulster Folk and Transport Museum for an authentic Northern Irish experience with living history characters at the Folk Museum coming to the fore, dressed in traditional costume making soda bread on the stove, basket weaving and blacksmith skills.  They loved the Transport park too, with the vintage vehicles -  including the rare DeLorean. And of course – it’s for private hire!

A new addition to a usual Belfast based Fam Trip was a visit to the idyllic Galgorm Resort and Spa where clients enjoyed a tour of the picturesque grounds and stunning rooms. The visit also included a presentation from the ‘Master of Gin’ who presented a range of delicious concoctions, focussing, of course on our local gins, Shortcross and Jawbox, all taking place in the atmospheric ‘River Room’.

It was a ‘Gintastic’ first day, as the evening began with more gin! This time it was sampled at Belfast’s new quirky hotel; The Bullitt. Hotel rooms and venue space were also included, of course! This was followed by a sumptuous meal in the Great Hall at the beautiful 5 Star experience that is the Merchant Hotel.

On Saturday morning it was more hotel show rounds - but with a twist – or literally a twist as we were all livened up by a light exercise class in the Clayton Hotel. Next it was off to Europa, where clients were welcomed by Catriona Lavery, Business Tourism Sales Manager/ AKA Doc Brown from Back to the Future, for a memorable presentation of Northern Ireland’s inventions- the defibrillator, the penalty kick, the DeLorean and many others!

The newly refurbished Fitzwilliam was next up, enticing the clients with their modern and airy rooms! A mouth-watering lunch was served at Belfast Waterfront in the unique ‘Bar 1’ space. A lovely ambience was created with a garden party theme, an acoustic performer and genuinely local produce. After lunch it was a tour of the fantastic new extension and all with a conference in situ– a tattoo convention. This truly showed the venues versatility from hosting world leaders a few years ago to tattoo conventions!

Finally it was the Hilton Hotel’s turn, where the Executive Lounge was transformed into Winterfell, with none other than the famous Game of Thrones ‘Iron Throne’. Clients relished their few moments of royalty, on the Throne, before enjoying Game of Thrones themed refreshments.

Saturday evening’s Drinks Reception was in the newly extended Ten Square before being transported to the Culloden Resort and Spa for a first-class dinner and after party.

We even had time to squeeze in a super visit to Crumlin Road Gaol on Sunday morning, before various departures. Belfast on a Sunday am – it had to be a classic Ulster Fry, served up in the Cuffs Bar and Grill – it’s safe to say this was seriously appreciated after a late night in Cathedral Quarter! Say no more!

Client feedback was that the weekend had been a huge success with our VIP visitors being extremely impressed by how sophisticated and unique our City is!

So now it’s just a matter of persuading them to book Belfast for their clients and bring us all their business -  Using this specialist Destination Management Company of course!
